The girls made a summer 2017 list and it’s hanging in our dining room. Harper wants to read 100 books this summer, and also meet a fairy. I’m doing my best to make it happen, starting with searching for all the fairy doors in Ann Arbor.
We found this one yesterday in the downtown library. The fairies built a house on a shelf stacked with books. “Mommy, Mommy, look!” Harper said, “There’s a poem inside!”
Indeed there was a poem about the moon inside, and Harper crouched to read it.
I learned a couple of weeks ago that if we find four leaf clovers, there are fairies nearby. We see patches of clovers on our walk to the pool, and I am on the look out, but so far, Harper has been the only one in our family who’s found clovers with four leaves on them. She did it at least three times in Maryland, so I think it’s only a matter of time that she’ll say, “Top of the mornin’ to you,” to a fairy. (I know, I know, she’d never say anything Irish like that in Ann Arbor. We’ll do our best to teach her, “Hail! Hail! Hail!” or whatever it is you maize and blue crazies say.)
I’m over at TS Poetry today writing about our summer pursuits. Come say hello?
