Hadley: Mama, I have a problem. Me: What’s the problem? Hadley: The problem is that I want to be a paleontologist when I grow up but I can’t be one. Me: Why’s that? Hadley: Because paleontologists are boys not girls. Me (trying to stay calm): Girls can be paleontologists! Why don’t you think you can be a paleontologist? Hadley: Because… View Post

I Know You Didn’t Ask…

in Uncategorized on 24/05/12

If I know anything about moms, it’s that we LOVE getting unsolicited advice.  We wake up hoping that someone will tell us how to do things better. For example, when I was pregnant with Hadley, and she was 14,657 days overdue, I dealt with the realization that I would be pregnant for the rest of my life by purchasing two sprinkled… View Post

Eating My Words

Remember that slight rant I wrote on guest posting?  No? You mean you don’t remember everything I write about? Don’t you take notes or something? Either way, here is where I write that I didn’t know exactly what I was talking about because, well, I’m guest posting on the blog Read.Learn.Write.  I think you should click on over and check it… View Post

Hi! I’m Callie. I’m a writer and teacher living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I write Creative Nonfiction, and in my oldest daughter Hadley’s words, I “use my imagination to add a bit of sparkle to the story.” I’m a contributor for Coffee+Crumbs, Off the Page, Makes You Mom, and Relief Journal. My writing has also been featured on Art House America, Tweetspeak Poetry, Good Letters, and Altarwork, and in 2014 I was one of the cast members of the Listen To Your Mother DC show.

I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University, and I am working on my first book that will be published through TS Poetry Press.
