One Year Down

in Uncategorized on 30/05/13

Here’s a picture of the first “guys” Harper ever drew.  She was about 2 and 1/2. Here’s a sample of what Harper’s “guys” look like now. And here’s a picture of her on some sort of climbing thing. This is the same climbing thing that Hadley was on last year at this time at her preschool graduation.  Harper couldn’t get… View Post

Everything Has An Author

On Friday the girls and I went to the library to look at cookbooks. Whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed with my writing I go to the library to find something new to concern myself over; like how to make my own starter for sourdough bread, or how to make a pie crust with cute crimped edges. Hadley found a book club… View Post

I always think I’m going to get a ton of work done on the weekends and I never do. I think about doing work. I even plan to do work. I’ll tell Jesse, “I need to work.” I’ll pack my bag full with notebooks and pens and books to read and mark up. I’ll leave the house and go to… View Post

Last week, they roamed the zoo to see the real, live thing. Hadley searched for the cheetah. On… View Post

Hi! I’m Callie. I’m a writer and teacher living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I write Creative Nonfiction, and in my oldest daughter Hadley’s words, I “use my imagination to add a bit of sparkle to the story.” I’m a contributor for Coffee+Crumbs, Off the Page, Makes You Mom, and Relief Journal. My writing has also been featured on Art House America, Tweetspeak Poetry, Good Letters, and Altarwork, and in 2014 I was one of the cast members of the Listen To Your Mother DC show.

I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University, and I am working on my first book that will be published through TS Poetry Press.
