Bible Story

in Uncategorized on 21/11/13

Every Sunday, the pastor at our church does a very brave thing: he talks to the children for a few minutes and somehow relays the message he will be preaching about in a way that they can understand. One Sunday, he put up his hand to show a way to pray: each finger representing a different person to pray for…. View Post

“A List of Things for my Mom to Write About” – Hadley

in Uncategorized on 19/11/13

We went to Hadley’s conference recently and her teacher told us that one of her favorite things to do is work at centers. She writes in her journal, looks up words in the dictionary, writes recipes, and does research. And she makes list of things I can write about. It’s quite a list with lots of variety, don’t you think?… View Post

{Celebrating} Harper turning 5 (don’t be jealous of my mad cake decorating skills), Hadley turning 7 and having the most fabulous fall weather in all the land.  Since we’ve moved to the DC area I think, this has to be the best fall ever and then the mid-atlantic region up and puts on another show again.  Darn you DC for… View Post

Hi! I’m Callie. I’m a writer and teacher living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I write Creative Nonfiction, and in my oldest daughter Hadley’s words, I “use my imagination to add a bit of sparkle to the story.” I’m a contributor for Coffee+Crumbs, Off the Page, Makes You Mom, and Relief Journal. My writing has also been featured on Art House America, Tweetspeak Poetry, Good Letters, and Altarwork, and in 2014 I was one of the cast members of the Listen To Your Mother DC show.

I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University, and I am working on my first book that will be published through TS Poetry Press.

Have a look around and be sure to subscribe to the blog. Thanks for stopping by!
