Songs to Employ

in Uncategorized on 20/12/16

About a block from my school is a park with a playground. Several of the kids who walk home dash there after school, and watching sixth, seventh, and eighth graders goof off in that area is my favorite part of the day. I try not to look like a creeper, but I drive as slow as I can because watching… View Post

Tune My Art To Sing Thy Grace

in Uncategorized on 05/12/16

This is a picture of a coffee shop I found in the basement of a watch shop. It’s one of the most beautiful coffee shops in the world, I am sure of it. It’s quiet save for the humming of that melodious noise of perfect coffee drinks being prepared, and the soft sounds of Elliot Smith wondering about all things… View Post

“I was thinking of about you driving to Detroit this morning.” This is from the piano teacher. She always chats with me for a few minutes before and after the lessons. Before class today, she noticed I didn’t have my usual stack of papers to grade, and instead was holding a copy of Cheryl Strayed’s Wild. I picked it up at… View Post

Dead Hydrangeas

Hi! I’m Callie. I’m a writer and teacher living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I write Creative Nonfiction, and in my oldest daughter Hadley’s words, I “use my imagination to add a bit of sparkle to the story.” I’m a contributor for Coffee+Crumbs, Off the Page, Makes You Mom, and Relief Journal. My writing has also been featured on Art House America, Tweetspeak Poetry, Good Letters, and Altarwork, and in 2014 I was one of the cast members of the Listen To Your Mother DC show.

I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University, and I am working on my first book that will be published through TS Poetry Press.
