All She Has

A Collage Essay. I am at the pool with a friend when her son and his friend, both of them 10, both of them dripping wet and shivering, ask if they can get a treat from the Snack Shack. “Yes,” she says, and her son’s friend smiles and watches a water droplet race down his knee and his eyelashes reach… View Post

Unwise Acts

Growing up, if you lived on my side of town, you swam at Rehm Pool – where every hour there was a 15 minute rest period – pure agony – where Superopes were 50 cents and Fireballs were 10, and where if you wanted to dive, or do any sort of trick jump, you went to the diving well with… View Post

I am a Freshman in high school, rushing from the cafeteria to get to my locker, which is three floors above where I am – so I can grab my literature textbook, notebook, and copy of The Odyssey, and then climb one more flight of stairs to get to class. I must do this in five minutes.  I go to… View Post

Hi! I’m Callie. I’m a writer and teacher living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I write Creative Nonfiction, and in my oldest daughter Hadley’s words, I “use my imagination to add a bit of sparkle to the story.” I’m a contributor for Coffee+Crumbs, Off the Page, Makes You Mom, and Relief Journal. My writing has also been featured on Art House America, Tweetspeak Poetry, Good Letters, and Altarwork, and in 2014 I was one of the cast members of the Listen To Your Mother DC show.

I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University, and I am working on my first book that will be published through TS Poetry Press.
