Reading + Writing Recently

Lord, my daughters sing along to the Mama Mia soundtrack, to Taylor Swift, and to One Direction as though they are singing hymns. Help me to remember I sang along to Salt-n-Pepa, “The Humpty Dance,” and, “Booty Call,” with the same conviction. Help me to remember the night on Vieques Island, Puerto Rico when I heard Shock G’s voice declare,… View Post

Rough Drafts + Chapel

in Uncategorized on 19/07/22

In Chapel, the pastor tells us we are all rough drafts. He goes on to say something about the manuscript he’s writing or maybe it’s a dissertation. Either way, he knows what rough drafts are like. The Chapel is mostly filled with students and I look to see if they’re eager to learn this news about being rough drafts. I… View Post

Hi! I’m Callie. I’m a writer and teacher living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I write Creative Nonfiction, and in my oldest daughter Hadley’s words, I “use my imagination to add a bit of sparkle to the story.” I’m a contributor for Coffee+Crumbs, Off the Page, Makes You Mom, and Relief Journal. My writing has also been featured on Art House America, Tweetspeak Poetry, Good Letters, and Altarwork, and in 2014 I was one of the cast members of the Listen To Your Mother DC show.

I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University, and I am working on my first book that will be published through TS Poetry Press.
