Thisness

in Uncategorized on 10/11/11

I’m quite certain that I will never get tired of watching the leaves turn.  Come September, and probably late August, I begin to watch for changes: Ah yes, that green leaf definitely has shades of orange in it. What’s funny is that every year, despite my obsession with looking for fall, I am always surprised to see that it’s more… View Post

Of Gym Shorts and Harper

in Uncategorized on 08/11/11

Can we talk about this girl for a minute? I have to start by telling you about a pair of gym shorts. They were dark blue with orange letters, and everyone received a pair once they entered high school. I couldn’t wait to get mine and wear them. I wanted to own a pair of these shorts since my elementary… View Post

It’s The Eyes

My sophomore year of college, my roommate and I made a mix tape to fall asleep to.  We’d press “play,” climb up the ladder to our lofts and fall asleep to singers like Dave Matthews, Cowboy Junkies, and Sarah McLaughlin. Natalie Merchant was among the artists we chose to lull us to sleep, and she sang a song that always… View Post

There was Pin the Tail on the Donkey. And there were presents. All this was to celebrate two little girls we know who are turning 3 and 5. When I… View Post

Hi! I’m Callie. I’m a writer and teacher living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I write Creative Nonfiction, and in my oldest daughter Hadley’s words, I “use my imagination to add a bit of sparkle to the story.” I’m a contributor for Coffee+Crumbs, Off the Page, Makes You Mom, and Relief Journal. My writing has also been featured on Art House America, Tweetspeak Poetry, Good Letters, and Altarwork, and in 2014 I was one of the cast members of the Listen To Your Mother DC show.

I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University, and I am working on my first book that will be published through TS Poetry Press.
