Morning Conversations

“Mama, what are you doing?” “Cutting out pictures of things that I like.” “So you can buy them?” “Yea, or see if I have something similar already.” Hadley picks up a picture of a Cover Girl Blush and says, “Ooooo!  This is pretty.  It’s pink.  Where can you get this?” “It says you can buy it at a drugstore.” “A… View Post

All Things to All People

Jesus has been all over our home recently. Harper introduced him to the dinosaurs. Doesn’t look like it went so well judging from the look of this picture. I even got in on it during the Christmas season when I yelled, “I found Jesus!” after looking for him everywhere in the living room.  He was under our couch. I wasn’t… View Post

I don’t think I’ve uploaded any videos on this new site, have I?  Perhaps it’s time I do that.  They’re kind of long, so you might want to make some popcorn and enjoy a drink while you watch.  Any kind of drink, mind  you, there’s no judging.  And might I suggest mixing your popcorn with a little hot pepper flakes,… View Post

Hi! I’m Callie. I’m a writer and teacher living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I write Creative Nonfiction, and in my oldest daughter Hadley’s words, I “use my imagination to add a bit of sparkle to the story.” I’m a contributor for Coffee+Crumbs, Off the Page, Makes You Mom, and Relief Journal. My writing has also been featured on Art House America, Tweetspeak Poetry, Good Letters, and Altarwork, and in 2014 I was one of the cast members of the Listen To Your Mother DC show.

I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University, and I am working on my first book that will be published through TS Poetry Press.
