Writing Spot

in Uncategorized on 02/10/12

I think I might write sometimes about my MFA work.  Will that be OK?  I know you come here for her: and this one, too: But today I want to tell you about where I go to do my writing.  Most days I am at my desk and I look out my window and watch the leaves outside when I… View Post

Like A Kit Kat

Every Monday, Hadley brings home a packet of homework that is to be turned in on Friday, so about three afternoons a week, Hadley, Harper, and I sit at the table in our sunroom and do homework. Look how happy Hadley is.  This above picture is Hadley’s writing face.  Or rather, her “I don’t want to write face.”  She told… View Post

Morning Commute

When we first moved to Washington DC, I sometimes drove Jesse to work on my way to teaching.  On those mornings, I always saw an man walking his dog down 16th street as I rounded the corner to head towards school. I wondered, as I drove down Georgia Avenue, silently pleased I had a “reverse commute” (one that led me… View Post

Speaking of Running

Hi! I’m Callie. I’m a writer and teacher living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I write Creative Nonfiction, and in my oldest daughter Hadley’s words, I “use my imagination to add a bit of sparkle to the story.” I’m a contributor for Coffee+Crumbs, Off the Page, Makes You Mom, and Relief Journal. My writing has also been featured on Art House America, Tweetspeak Poetry, Good Letters, and Altarwork, and in 2014 I was one of the cast members of the Listen To Your Mother DC show.

I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University, and I am working on my first book that will be published through TS Poetry Press.
