FAQ:
Do I need to have a background in writing to apply for this program?
You do not need any specific background in writing or publishing history to apply. You need a seed of an idea, a commitment to the group, and a willingness to grow.
Will I really have a complete manuscript by the end of the 9-month program?
Heart to Page will resource you with the knowledge, inspiration, feedback, and encouragement to write a book-length project. As with all writing endeavors, the end result is up to the author alone. But I will be there to cheer you on and support you every step of the way.
What will I be required to submit each month?
Each month, writers will submit 8-10 pages of Creative Nonfiction, along with a one page letter summarizing and commenting on any reading they did that month. Callie will give in-depth written feedback on each packet.
About how many hours/week should I expect to spend on this program?
Weeks will fluctuate depending on deadlines, but plan for 5-10 hours of work/week.
Can I see a schedule of all of the meetings in advance?
Sure! Here’s a calendar for the first 3 months:
What if I have to miss a monthly workshop?
Workshops will be recorded and can be watched at a later time.
What if I can’t commit to the full year? Can I still take part in the first month or two?
This program was modeled upon graduate level coursework in creative writing. Due to the limited spots available, only applicants able to commit for the full year will be considered.
How many writers will be accepted?
This workshop is open to 8 writers.
What if I get behind?
Callie will offer a 1 month extension on the program for participants facing significant barriers to completing the program. If the school year-long commitment isn’t a good fit right now, consider joining us in the future or working with Callie in this Portfolio Review instead.
Is there a payment option?
There is an annual and monthly payment option. Annual payment is offered at a significant discount.
