Robotic Surfing

in Uncategorized on 02/05/23

Have you heard about the robots that surf? They’re out in California. I heard Apple launched them. Or maybe it was Facebook. Anyway, the Robot Surfers, RSERS as they’re called, can do it better than any human and what’s more, they’re designed to make it look as if you’re doing it! But you don’t have to! Isn’t that fantastic?!?! You take all the credit and do zero work. The RSERS don’t even care. They don’t even know what care means. They’re designed to surf. That’s it.

They don’t have to figure out balance. They don’t have to develop core strength. They don’t need to learn how to swim. They already know. There is no figuring or developing or learning. Isn’t that just the best thing you ever heard?!?!

No more peeling on a wetsuit. No more waxing your surfboard and stepping onto the morning sand that shifts and squeaks while the seagulls cry overhead. You won’t have to deal with any of that! No more saltwater. No more first feels of the ocean water and standing in its undertow. No more butterflies in your stomach as the big one approaches and you pull yourself onto the board never taking your eye off the wall of blue that’s silently building and rushing towards you.

You won’t have to think about feet placement, or crests. You won’t have to think about the forecast. You won’t have to wonder if you have what it takes to make it to the unbroken waves. You won’t have to wonder about risks and what it’s like to give yourself a chance to do something you don’t know if you can do, but you want to try.

You won’t have to think.

There will be no wonder.
