I enjoyed my first pumpkin beer Sunday night that Jesse and I paired with paella stuffed acorn squash, and I don’t think it gets more Autumn than that.
This means, of course, we are officially into my favorite season and besides all the joys of nightly fire pit fires, changing leaves, cozy scarves, and wearing my boots again, October is an on-ramp to birthdays and Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. It is a time to savor and not speed, which means the heavy lifting that comes with writing might need to have a lid put upon it so those stories can simmer on the stove for a time.
It’s good though, to have something to put in the pot first, and maybe you have a few ingredients you’d like to work with. Perhaps you have something you’ve been attending to this year, maybe you are ready to lay these things out on the counter, slice them open and see what they’re made of, and what you can do with what you have.
I will be leading one more Critique Course before I take a break and start back up again in January. Due to the holidays, this one will be shortened into four weeks, and will cost $100. (That’s $25 a week, and how’s that for me showing my math skills?) If you have an idea for an essay, a book, a blog, that’s been following you around, and you are interested in working with me on that idea, consider signing up for my Critique Course. We’ll do two Zoom workshops, you’ll have a one-hour phone conference with me, and you’ll receive feedback on everything you write.
Come join us! There’s plenty of counter space to make a big, ol’ mess. Sign up here.
