We walk outside for school in the morning, and Harper gasps, “Oh, Mommy, look at our driveway!”
“Spring was here,” she says, “and left a fresh carpet on our road.”
We back out of our driveway and I return Harper’s gasp when I see this:
“I had no idea that tree would do that,” I say, trying to capture those white petals with my phone.
“That’s a non-native tree,” Harper tells me.
“What?” I ask as we reverse down the driveway and onto the street.
“That tree isn’t from around here,” Hadley tells me. “It didn’t start out here.”
“Huh,” I say as we head towards school. “Well, I’m glad it made it’s way to our backyard. I’m glad it’s here now.
Wherever the beauty began, wherever it blooms, I’m glad to witness it for a while.
