You want to know about this beautiful new website, but I want to tell you about the Reading Journals Becky and I made over the summer. They’re for you! Not kids. (Although, kids? Are you reading this? We have Reading Journals for you, too. Click on my “Products” tab and have a look.)
Between you and me, I think these are my favorite of the three we’ve made. Becky really outdid herself. They’re a little larger, but still slim enough so you can pack them in your book bag. (You have a book bag, don’t you? Good gracious, get a book bag. Perhaps a nice canvas one.)
There’s still an “All About Me” page with a superhero cape for you to design for yourself. (You’re a superhero, don’t you think? Do you need me to tell you that you are? I will. Give me your address and I’ll take you out for coffee and tell you all about your superhero capabilities.)
There’s a Book Hunt, with added categories for magazines, nonfiction, and art.
There’s a Reading Log with spaces to color in stars for ratings.
Then we have some writing activities based on the books you’re reading. You can do a blackout poem, design a new cover, there are scrapbook pages, we even have a food and story page.
See what I mean when I say Becky outdid herself? Isn’t this page gorgeous?
That’s just a slice of what’s in this nifty little book. Take it into the fall season with you. Use it to play around with the stories you’re reading. I bet you’ll find some of your own, too. That’s how I do it. They’re on sale here.
PS – I have a post coming soon about the new site and why I made a change, but writing it doesn’t come easily for me because it means that I have to know something about myself and my writing, and that feels like the equivalent of playing a Get To Know Me game. I’ve been playing Get To Know Me games every single day since August 20 and no kidding, I think I need therapy. I’m pretty sure Satan invented them and God allows them to exist to test our faith or maybe it’s endurance. I’m not sure but I’ll tell you more about this new blog soon. For now, how about just looking around? That’s the kind of world I’d like to live in: where our work speaks for itself and there are no such things as elevator pitches, tweets, and games like “If I were a tree, I’d be a….” Enjoy.
