I was reading a post on the A Beautiful Mess blog and the writer wrote about stray fortunes. I like that pairing and thought of it recently as I cleaned our house, especially as I went through the girls’ room.
Here’s a little box for teeth that have been lost. Hadley lost another tooth, and much to her delight she lost it at school. Losing a tooth at school entitles one to a tooth treasure box, and late in January Hadley came home with one to carry her tooth in it. This is indeed a treasure as Hadley’s been talking about this for almost two years. It sits in her bed. I thought the tooth fairy took it but it turns out tooth fairies aren’t interested in the treasure boxes.
This was on my desk one Friday afternoon, and I think it’s just delightful. I particularly love how she cut and designed the border.
Speaking of designing….
Here’s a little message from a happy person that I found in the corner of this happy person’s bedroom.
And here’s another one of her contributions:
That would be at the foot of her bunk bed where she sleeps.
It’s hard to be mad, and really, I don’t care. When we move, I’d like to leave the “Happy Me!” on the wall and hopefully another small child will find it and know that for a while there were people here who found and kept a lot of stray fortunes.
