{Enjoying} Our Christmas tree. Hadley turns the lights on each morning when she gets up, early, and then we sit by the tree for a few minutes before the day starts. We both agree that getting to sit by a lit up tree before the sky turns blue is one of life’s great feats.
{Reading} Girl Meets God by Lauren Winner. It is so fun to re-read books, don’t you think? I love going back and seeing what I’ve underlined or written in the margins. The first time I read it I was 27 and thinking it was time to quit teaching and do something else, so I look at the marks I made in that story and wonder if I was looking for what it was I should do next.
{Proud of} my friend Sarah who co-founded her business, 24 Stories. She’s a seasoned anchorwoman and one of the most enthusiastic people I know. If you’re looking for someone to help promote your work, check out her website. Also proud of my other friend, Sarah, who wrote a beautiful and heartbreaking piece in the NY Times last Sunday. I am honored to have shared many walks to and from Longfellow Elementary School with her, and I am honored to have spent many hours learning dance routines and laughing really hard with the other Sarah.
{Trying} to come up with one word for an online course I’m going to take starting in January. It’s called One Little Word by Ali Edwards and the idea is you do reflections and activities based on a word you follow throughout the year. So far I’ve been playing around with: move, discover, possibility, effervescent, bold, and look.
{Looking} forward to meeting my niece, one more trip to Whidbey Island, going to the Festival of Faith and Writing at Calvin in April, and then Santa Fe to graduate, then who knows what’s next?
{Excited} about the next Yoga and Creativity class Shannon and I will lead. This time, we’re doing a Friday Night Creativity Happy Hour. A little yoga, a little booze, a little creativity. More information on that coming soon.
