How about a Summer Reading Journal?
I made some for my girls. And for your kids too, if they’d like.
There’s a place to make bookmarks.
And a place to store words that are funny, descriptive, hard to understand, and words that should be used over and over again.
There are places to write book reviews, draw pictures, and write about problems the characters are having in stories.
There are a few “All About Me” pages, and there’s a library scavenger hunt.
You have to look for Caldecotts and Newberrys. You need to figure out who wrote Thank You, Mr. Faulkner, and which books Erica S. Perl wrote.
You have to figure out whether Charlotte’s Web is a chapter or picture book.
You have to find books on your favorite animal, and a hobby you want to learn more about. There’s lots of room to write all sorts of titles down.
But be warned.
You may need to bring a bag for all the books you’ll need to take home. That’s a nice problem to have, though, isn’t it?
Would you like your very own Summer Reading Journal? I’m selling them over here if you’re interested. Come check them out.
