Enjoying – A french pressed cup of coffee in my new Intelligentsia Chicago mug. (Thank you, Mom and Dad! Geoff! Come over for coffee!)
Listening to – Hadley and Harper tell me what they want for breakfast (waffles for Harper, hard boiled egg for Hadley).
Reading – two books: The Christmas Plains by Joseph Bottum and Anything but Typical by Nora Raleigh Baskin. Despite all the reading for my MFA, I can’t tear away from children’s lit, which is why I have Baskin’s book from the library. Bottum’s book fits nicely into Creative Nonfiction (which is the genre I’m studying) AND Advent. Two birds, y’all. Two birds.
Getting ready to – head to the gym after the girls are in school. Remember when I wrote about my Trek and Spin class? I’m still going. I love it too much to stop. Recently the instructor said, “When the music gets bolder, so will we!” I loved that. I think she helps me with my writing, but I haven’t quite figured out how. Plus, I might be making friends in the class. I’m not sure. It takes me so long to make friends, but these folks I see week after week smile and I smile back.
Wondering – what my next essay will be on. I’m thinking of writing about how much I love school buses. It’s no joke. Don’t you get so excited to see school buses carrying all those dreams to school?
Celebrating – turning 37 (today!). Also, 2012 marks five years of blogging for me. Here are some posts from around December 6.
2011 – “Recall Together” 2010 – “A Fine Birthday” 2009 – “Spoiled” 2008 – “What Did She Do?” 2007- “First Snow”
Thanks for reading.

Sounds like the start to a great birthday! Next year it will be 20 years since we’ve known each other. I think that’s really awesome and somewhat scary at the same time. I hope that 37 is your best year ever!

Really awesome and really scary indeed. 20 years?!?!?! Weren’t we just talking about the joys of B96 on a late August afternoon? It can’t be!

I didn’t see bday wishes from Dr. Hartemink on my FB post. I was looking for them all day. It’s not like you have three kids or anything. 🙂
