Homestead Farms

in Uncategorized on 12/10/11

I’ve decided that the field trip to the farm/orchard/pumpkin patch is officially The Preschooler’s Rite of Passage.  Indeed, it is a “must do” if you’re in the digits before 5….perhaps after 5, too.

The one we went to this morning was around before George Washington was president.  Nice tidbit o’ information, me thinks.

I love this picture.  They’re looking at goats and discussing reasons why the animals haven’t finished their apples.  I’m sure Hadley has several reasons.  She’s quite empathetic in these matters.

All living things were quite friendly.

These guys were my favorite.  So cute!  And if I stood around long enough, I would’ve become a vegetarian.  I was glad we were called to the hayride.

Hadley wouldn’t sit next to me.  Not that I was surprised.  She kept talking to me though, so everyone could be a part of the conversation.  It was awesome.  I’m huddled in the back of the -whatever it is you ride behind a tractor in- praying I’m not sitting on a hornet, and Hadley’s giving me a play by play of everything she sees.  Someone sitting next to me asked, “Is that your daughter?”

“Yes.”

From the look on her face, it seemed like she thought I would rather sit by myself then sit with my kid.  So I set her straight.

“She doesn’t want to sit with me.”

Just wanted to set the record straight that I wasn’t some lone adult who happened to decide to go on a hayride with a bunch of 4 and 5 year olds that day.  That would just be creepy.

Like this witch.

Anyway, the fieldtrip was fun.  I was glad to (literally) tag along.

Afterwords, Hadley and I picked up Harper and we went out for lunch.

I had a chopped salad with bacon.

Sorry, guys.

LOL!!! The empathy for the piggies didn’t last long I see:) I have such memories of my boys going on a hayride, pumpkin patch field trip. One time, our trailer got a flat tire and we had to walk all the 4 year olds back through the pasture….oh joy!!! 🙂

Such good posts! They make me yearn for all things fall, halloween and pumpkin related. Girl, you got skills.

Okay…to funny! Those little pigs were cute…but they are so dirty!

It looks like a pretty cool little farm to go to, that witch is a bit creepy.

We go to our’s next week…really hoping the baby doesn’t come then so Will can hang out with his friends and the pigs!

When I was in fourth grade, I got my front tooth k When I was in fourth grade, I got my front tooth knock out during a baseball game. I was in the dugout, trying to make a butterfly in the dirt with my shoe. The batter, who’d hit not just a home run, but a grand slam, came running in and everyone cheered and so did I because I’d gotten really good at reading cues for when a good thing happens in sports. I even attempted a high five, and somehow I knocked my face into her batting helmet, thus spending the good part of that weekend summer day in the dentist’s office getting a root canal.

No teeth were lost in this latest incident, but I was lost in a bit of imagining on Sunday when I tripped and fell on Packard while running. I look like I’ve been in a bar fight and my shoulder looks similar to how Wesley’s looked after being attacked by an ROUS.

But I’m going into work today, and when I told my boss I’m nervous about how I look she said, “It’s OK because you have a story,” and if that isn’t the best thing you could ever say to me, I’m not sure what is.

So, here I am with a story. Thanks to all my friends and family who’ve been so kind and keeping me laughing.
